We are all currently experiencing some hardship due to the COVID-19 (Corona Virus) outbreak. As an Area, we can get through this together. Our Fellowship is strong and the WE of the program will get us through this. Fortunately there are Zoom meetings to lighten the load a bit.
Addiction affects us all, not just the addict or alcoholic. In most cases, we have our own issues we need to face to live healthy and happy lives. There are many places where family members can seek help for themselves. While NA or AA doesn’t endorse or recommend other fellowships or facilities we do understand they do provide a place for people to find their way of healing. Family members of addicts may want to seek support in Alanon or Nar-Anon Family groups.
We recognize that we are not licensed to deal with medical issues resulting from drug or alcohol misuse or treatment related to addiction or alcoholism. We are simply a safe living atmosphere where there is no active misuse of illicit drugs or alcohol. In some cases, outside help is necessary where AA or NA cannot address acute medical issues as a result of continual misuse. There are facilities in Pinellas County that can help with medical issues related to addiction including hospitals, clinics, detoxes, and other facilities.
